Samsung NX10 Hands-On Review
CES 2010동안 새로운 14.6MP의 삼성 NX10을 만져볼 기회가 있었다. 불행히도, 그것은 아직 베타버젼이었기 때문에 실제 사진을 찍어볼 수는 없었다. 하지만, 다행인 것은 대부분의 기능이 작동하는 상태였기 때문에 우리는 곧 상점 진열대에서 보게 될 NX10에 대해 전반적으로 어떤 제품인지 알아보기에는 충분했다.
While at CES 2010, I had the opportunity to handle the new 14.6MP Samsung NX10. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take any image samples from the camera because it was a pre-production model. The good news about the camera though, is that it was mostly functional and gave a good idea of what to expect from the NX10 that we’ll soon see on store shelves.
처음 이 카메라를 접하게 되면, 일반적인 입문용 DSLR보다 엄청 작아 보이지 않는다. 하지만, 크기 차이가 눈에 띄게 차이가 나고, 특히 몸체의 두께에선 현격하게 차이가 났다. 손에 들어보니, Pentax K-x와 같은 계열의 컴팩트 DSLR처럼 느껴졌다.
When you first see the camera, it is apparent that it’s not really that much smaller than a typical entry-level DSLR. That said, there is a noticeable size difference, particularly in the thickness of the body. It still feels like a compact DSLR in the hand though – along the lines of a Pentax K-x.
NX10은 버튼의 배치가 전반적으로 우수했고, 인체공학적인 디자인을 갖고 있었다. 나는 똑딱이던지 SLR이던지 간에 오른손 파지를 위한 (NX10같은) 약간의 그립이 있는 것을 선호한다. 그래서, 이런 부분이 카메라 핸들링에 대한 나의 우호적인 느낌을 갖게 했다.
The NX10 has a nice button layout and overall ergonomics. I prefer a little bit of a ridge (like the NX10 has) for the right hand to grip on a camera whether it’s a point and shoot or SLR, so consider that bias in my opinion of how it handles.
후면 디스플레이 시스템은 매우 잘 구성되었다. 그래픽을 통해 설정을 전환하는 방식은 가장 깔끔한, 솔직하게 말하자면, 내가 봤던 카메라 중에 가장 예뻤다. Fn (기능)버튼은 일반 설정을 하는데 있어 엄청나게 빠르게 접근할 수 있다. 나머지 메뉴는 상당히 직관적으로 메뉴 이동을 하며 설정할 수 있었다.
The LCD menu system is very well done. The graphics used for navigating around the settings are some of the cleanest and, frankly, prettiest that I’ve seen on a camera. There’s a Fn (function) button that brings up common settings that you might want to adjust on the fly. The rest of the menu seems to be navigable in a pretty intuitive manner.
한가지, 우리가 항상 미러리스 “하이브리드” 카메라에 대해 가졌던 가장 큰 의문사항은, 얼마나 빨리 포커스를 잡을 수 있느냐는 것이었다. 다행스럽게도, 삼성은 NX10을 개발하는데 있어 많은 노력을 AF에 들인 것으로 보인다. 내가 베타버젼의 NX10을 쭉 사용해 보고 느낀 점은 NX10의 AF 속도는 마이크로 포서드에서 상당히 빠른 파나소닉 GH1과 같은 급이라는 것이다.
One of the big questions that we always have about these mirrorless “hybrid” cameras is how fast it will focus. Fortunately, it looks like Samsung has done a solid job with the focusing on the NX10. Based on my initial observations with this pre-production model, I would put the focus speed of the NX10 up there with the Panasonic GH1, which I consider pretty quick for the Micro Four Thirds format.
포커싱 속도는 30mm f/2렌즈를 사용했을 때는 “날아갈듯 빠른 속도”였고, 꽤 어두운 f5.6의 50-200mm를 쭉 밀었을 때는 “평이한 속도” 였다. 30mm f/2렌즈는 또한 상당히 예쁜 보케를 가지고 있었다. 이 렌즈는 NX10사용자라면 “반드시 가져야할 렌즈”로 팬케익 형태인데, 이 렌즈가 장착되었을 때, NX10은 대단히 작게 느껴졌다.
The focus speed ranges from “wicked fast” with the 30mm f/2 lens down to “average” at the long end of the 50-200mm lens, which provides much less light at f/5.6. The 30mm f/2 lens is also capable of some beautiful bokeh. It just might be a “must have lens” for the NX10 thanks to the pancake form-factor, which makes the NX10 seem a whole lot smaller.
18-55mm 번들렌즈와 50-200mm 망원렌즈는 광학식 손떨림 방지기능을 가지고 있어, 카메라가 흔들릴 때 발생하는 흐려짐을 방지하는데 효과적이다. NX10 후면 이미지를 통해 줌을 당겨보니, 이 손떨방의 기능이 상당히 잘 작동하고 있다고 느껴졌다. 200mm에서 확연히 느껴질 정도로, 적어도 몇 스탑정도의 손떨림을 막아줬다.
The 18-55mm kit lens and 50-200mm telephoto zoom lens offer optical image stabilization, which is effective at reducing blur from camera shake. Based on what I could see on the NX10 LCD by zooming in on the images, it lives up to its name pretty well. At 200mm, there’s a noticeable benefit of the image stabilization of at least a couple of stops or so.
이미 밝혀진 세 렌즈에 더해, 삼성 관계자는 NX10 출시와 함께 펜탁스 K마운트 어댑터도 같이 나올 것이라고 확인해 주었다. 이 K마운트 어댑터는 MF로라도 펜탁스렌즈를 사용하고자 하는 사람 또는 NX10를 비디오 카메라로서 주로 사용할 사람들에게 주요한 도구가 될 것이다.
In addition to the three kit lenses already announced, Samsung representatives confirmed that a Pentax K-mount adapter will be available at the launch of the NX10. A K-mount adapter will be a great resource for those willing to manually focus, or those who are looking at heavily using the NX10 as a video camera.
NX10의 전자식 뷰파인더 또한 상당히 훌륭했다. 뷰파인더에 눈을 접근하면 자동으로 작동을 시작한다. 예상하겠지만, 이때 후면 디스플레이는 꺼진다. 이 전자식 뷰파인더를 들여다 봤을 때의 느낌은 역시, 파나소닉 GH1과 동등한 수순으로 비교될 수 있었다.
The electronic viewfinder on the NX10 is pretty spiffy as well. It will automatically turn on when you put your eye up to it. As you might expect, the LCD shuts off when the viewfinder comes on. It feels like you’re looking through a DSLR viewfinder – again, drawing comparisons to the Panasonic GH1.
NX10 뷰파인더의 영상은 대단히 좋았다. 하지만, 최종 양산 버젼의 카메라를 실 세계에서 써보기 전까진 최종적인 판단을 미루기로 했다. 만약에 삼성이 현재까지 느낀 느낌을 나머지 부분에서 같은 수준으로 유지를 한다면, 내 생각엔 삼성은 시장에서 진정한 경쟁자가 될 것이다. 이 카메라가 적정한 수준의 가격을 책정한다면, 향후 전망이 매우 밝고, NX 시리즈의 훌륭한 출발이 될 것이다.
The video looks very pretty on the NX10’s viewfinder; however, I’ll reserve final judgment on video and image quality until I get hands on a production unit and put it through some real world use. That said, if the rest of the evaluation points shape up to be on par with what I’ve seen so far, then I think Samsung may have a real contender on its hands. As long as the camera receives the right price point, it looks to have a promising future and serve as a solid start for the NX-Series.

With PMA coming next month, expect to hear more about the NX10 soon and, hopefully, some more details about what else will be showing up in the NX-Series in the future.

리뷰한 사람이 상당히 인상이 깊었던 모양입니다. 미러리스의 아킬레스건인 AF속도에 대해 GH1급으로 인지하고, 뷰파도 역시 그 급으로 인식을 하고 있습니다.
이에 더해 편하고 직관적인 유저인터페이스까지… 적정한 가격만 책정이 된다면 NX10의 화력한 출발을 예상하는 군요…
